On Sunday, June 1st, something special will happen on the streets of Hyannis, Falmouth, and Orleans. People will lace up their sneakers, grab their water bottles, and walk together with purpose. Among them will be the Leighton Team, participating in the Housing Assistance Walk for Hope; they plan on making this an annual event

Housing is more than a market for us. It’s a mission. As real estate professionals deeply rooted in Cape Cod, we see the struggles and triumphs tied to housing every single day. And that’s exactly why we walk.

The Heart Behind the Walk

The Housing Assistance Walk for Hope is an annual event organized by Housing Assistance Corporation to raise awareness and critical funds for housing programs that support families and individuals right here on Cape Cod. These programs help prevent homelessness, support working families with housing stability, and create pathways to self-sufficiency.

This year’s walk is more than a fundraiser. It’s a movement. The housing crisis on the Cape is affecting people across the board—from seniors on fixed incomes to young families trying to plant roots in the communities they love.

For Leighton Team, this isn’t just an event on the calendar. It’s a cause close to home.

Why We Walk

Every step we take is for the Cape Codder who can’t find a year-round rental. For the teacher commuting from off-Cape because they can’t afford to live where they work. For the parent working two jobs and still struggling to provide a stable home.

We walk because housing is health. It’s education. It’s security. And without it, every other part of life becomes harder.

We walk because we believe that everyone deserves a safe, stable place to live. And we believe in taking action to make that a reality.

A Local Problem with Local Solutions

Cape Cod faces a unique housing challenge. Limited land, rising construction costs, and the demand for short-term rentals have tightened the market. But what makes our community strong is the willingness of people and businesses to show up and help.

That’s what the Walk for Hope is all about. By raising awareness and funds, we help fuel Housing Assistance Corporation’s impactful programs:

Homelessness prevention and shelter services
Workforce housing support
First-time homebuyer education
Emergency rental assistance
